Payments & Electronic Commerce
We have unique experience designing and building payment systems using the new tools: Electronic Data Interchange protocols, Smart Cards, Stored Value Cards, Internet Messaging, and WEB based instruction and reporting systems. We have expertise in standard encryption, authentication and non-repudiation systems.
GPA advises its customers on current actions and future strategies for converting paper payment systems to electronic service alternatives and increasing Electronic Commerce channels. We help our customers with buy versus build analyses, capacity allowances, and techniques for managing investments in technology and capacity that meet expectations for the conversion of paper to electronics.
Cash Management Systems & Operations
Our corporate and financial institution customers ask us to design and implement cash management products, systems and operations in their “treasury” departments. This can, and often does, include bank and vendor selection, bank compensation programs, bank product selection, cash receipt and disbursement evaluations, money movement risk analysis, cash transaction information management, “channel” selection, and integration to other internal reporting systems, short-term debt and/or investment policies and programs and cash forecasting.

Risk & Compliance Management Assessment, Pricing & Minimization
GPA is expert at assessing compliance (card, EFT and check payments), payments and settlement risk. We also have considerable experience at price setting to achieve an adequate return on payments risk or minimizing that risk to the greatest extent possible. Recognizing the elements of risk (operational, credit, systemic, temporal, legal/regulatory) and advising our clients on ways to earn a fair return on that risk is our core competency.
Our clients look to GPA for help in providing operational safety to new and emerging payments systems using intra- or Internet technologies. This includes payment life cycle protections at enrollment (“know your customer”), payment initiation (credit, operational and OFAC), infrastructure and settlement. Dave Kurrasch, President of Global Payments Advisors, has worked in corporate treasury, banking and consulting for over 40 years. His career started as a cash manager at a large, diversified corporation where, for 7 years, he ran the day-to-day cash desk, short term borrowings and investment, and bank relationships. Dave joined Wells Fargo Bank as Vice President and National Sales Manager for the Bank’s Treasury Management Division and later was promoted to Senior Vice President in charge of the Bank’s Treasury Management Product Development and Management operations. Dave and his team were responsible for all product development, risk and fraud management, unit costing and profitability analysis.
After 15 years at Wells Fargo, Dave founded Global Payments Advisors in 1997 and has provided consulting advice and contracting services to banks, corporations, universities, governments and FINTECH start-ups in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. He has deep experience in all facets of treasury management, payments, risk and fraud management and their statutory/regulatory compliance.
Dave is a founding member of the National Corporate Cash Managers Association (now the Association for Financial Professionals), past president of the Cal-Western Automated Clearinghouse Association, a member of various committees of the Federal Reserve Bank, the National Automated Clearinghouse Association, Visa and MasterCard. He holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin and a Masters of Finance from the American Graduate School of International Management.
